Meet The Providers at Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, Cary, NC

james C. Womble, MD

James C. Womble, MD is a North Carolina native. Born in Fayetteville, he earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry and his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After completing his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Kentucky Medical Center he returned to practice in N.C., board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

In 1995, he started a new practice in Cary as a clinical associate of Duke University. In June, 1999, he started his own private practice in Cary. Dr. Womble is on the active medical staff at Wake Med Cary Hospital. He is also Medical Director at Glenaire Retirement Community in Cary, serves as a volunteer at The Open Door Clinic in Raleigh, and has participated in foreign medical missions.

He and his wife, Amy, live in Cary and have three children: Philip, Katie and Joseph.


David T. Outlaw, MD

David T. Outlaw, MD joined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Associates in June of 2002. Dr. Outlaw was born in New Orleans, LA, where he also graduated from college at Tulane University with a dual major in neurosciences and Latin. He graduated from medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1996. Afterwards, he returned to Tulane for residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. In 2000, Dr. Outlaw returned to the Triangle with his family.

Dr. Outlaw is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and is on the active medical staff at Wake Med Cary Hospital. He is married with two sons, and is an avid tennis fan.


Michael T. Capps, MD

Michael T. Capps, MD is a native North Carolinian. Growing up in Raleigh and Wilmington he then graduated from North Carolina State University with dual majors in Engineering and the Humanities. He completed medical school at the University of North Carolina followed by residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University.

It was during residency training that Dr. Capps met his wife, Mary Elizabeth, who is a practicing pediatrician. They live in Cary with their three small children. He enjoys running, cycling and swimming for exercise.

Dr. Capps is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He is on the active medical staff at Western Wake Hospital in Cary and takes great joy in providing care to multiple generations of families.


Ersilia Sarno, RN-C, MSN, FNP

Ersilia Sarno, RN-C, MSN, FNP is a Family Nurse Practitioner who was born in southern Italy and moved to Boston at age 7. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in biology from Wheaton College and developed a strong background in oncology working at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. She earned a degree in nursing at Simmons College and interned at Harvard University affiliated hospitals in Boston.

Ersilia has worked in both adult and child intensive care units at Moore Regional Hospital and Duke University Medical Center. She completed the Graduate Family Nurse Practitioner degree at UNC-Chapel Hill. As an FNP she has worked in OB/GYN and primary care offices providing diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases and wellness care. Ms. Sarno is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and active in many professional organizations.

Ersilia and her husband, Roger, live in Cary with their young daughter. Mrs. Sarno is fluent in English and Italian, and is conversational in Spanish.
